Like X-COM In Space, But With Tougher Squadmates

In X-COM, if the aliens get close enough to punch you, you are generally in deep trouble.  Other games in the genre such as Phoenix Point give you the option of adding melee specialists to your roster, though they can also be quickly overwhelmed and turned into fodder.  In Warhammer 40K however, melee combat is a major part of the game and can be quite successful, barring Tyranids that is.  As you are fighting the minions of Nurgle in Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, melee is a solid choice in many circumstances.

The game won’t be out until tomorrow, however Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN were able to get their hands on it before release and provided a review for your enjoyment.  The gameplay will be familiar to anyone who has played similar games, with action points determining how much you can do in a turn, and there is a way to target specific body parts so you can literally disarm your opponents.  One new addition is destructible terrain and buildings, something we don’t see enough of in this type of game.

The campaign is similar to other 40K games such as Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, where you will be forced to chose which planets to help and which to delay attacking as you will be unable to deal with everything that happens in every turn.  The trouble is that the longer it takes you to deal with an infestation, the harder it will be to defeat the enemy.
