The MSI MAG Z590 TORPEDO Is No Dud 2

Intel’s 11th Gen Chips Still Need Some Love

If you can find them, an Alder Lake CPU, Z690 motherboard and DDR5 will give you a leg up on a Rocket Lake system and a large hole in your wallet.  That is why some may opt to shop for an 11th Gen system, as Z590 boards are a little less expensive than Z690 boards and DDR4 costs significantly less than DDR5 and is easier to source as well.  Hence The FPS Review’s look at the MSI MAG Z590 TORPEDO.

The TORPEDO offers a lot of options, including three M.2 slots, one making use of PCIe 4.0 Gen 4, both 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps Ethernet, HDMI and DP out, as well as an assortment of 10Gbps and 20Gbps USB ports.  There is no native wireless support, as that is the domain of MSI’s TOMAHAWK series.

The features are not the only attractive points to this motherboard, the overclocking potential is impressive, the VRMs held up without complaint and the only thing The FPS Review found to limit Intel’s Adaptive Boost was the thermal capacity of your cooling solution.  Check out the full review for the full details.
