The setting for the Great Ace Attorney games is 1900s England, at the turn of the 20th century, and although the Sherlock Holmes influences are clear in “Herlock Sholmes”, your main helper character in the game, it turns out that the Britishy references go even deeper. In the official localisation — which comes out on Switch on the 27th July — there are multiple Easter Eggs to be found, even just in the trailer.

Piccadilly

In this one screenshot of London, quite a few retailer names can be seen, including:

  • Cleese and Palin British Tailors
  • Terry’s Lever Watches
  • Gilliam Theatre

If any of those names sound familiar, it’s probably because they belong to Michael Palin, John Cleese, and Terry Gilliam — all members of iconic British comedy troupe, Monty Python — and there’s even a reference to one of their films, The Life of Brian, in “Brian’s Cocoa”. Isn’t that lovely?

Kings Cross

We won’t lie, though — the one that caught our eye was “Great Richard Chocolates”, which we can’t help thinking is a reference to, erm, “Biggus Dickus“.
