80 PLUS Platinum, 140mm Fan And A 10 Year Warranty

Fractal Design have released a new series of PSUs, with the ION+ 560P 560W model up for review on the FPS Review.   The large fan makes the PSU look rather small but at just under 6″ long it is not an SFX unit.  It is fully modular and sports a single 46.6A 12V rail, two of the most important features for many users.  With four PCIe 6+2 power connectors and a 4+4 pin EPS connector it will handle a fairly powerful system, though at 560W you should do the math if you are looking at a high end GPU.

Internally the PSU uses a Sirfa/High Power platform which The FPS Review hadn’t seen previously and which, from their testing is a very solid base for this PSU.  The capacitors are a mix of Nippon Chemi-con and Rubycon and there are four heatsinks inside the cleanly designed internals which should keep your PSU nice a stable even under load.

The one and only problem they had with the PSU is the price, at almost $100 there are other units of similar effectiveness for lower prices that many may prefer.  If you are trying to build an extremely quiet machine that premium might be worth it, as this was one of the quietest that they have tested.
