This Week In GPUs You Can’t Buy …
If you drop by Bjorn3D you can have a glimpse of a fabled RTX 3090 card, rarer only than hen’s teeth and RTX 3080’s. Specifically it is Gigabyte’s factory overclocked RTX 3090 Eagle OC card, which sports 24GB of GDDR6X and, like their RTX 3080 Eagle OC sports a bit of a price bump compared to a Founders Edition version of the card … or would if they were available.
The memory bandwdith remains the same out of the box at 19.5 Gbps but the GPU has had a 30MHz boost to it’s core and the base clock on this card is 1725MHz. While Gigabyte does provide their own overclocking software for this card, Bjorn3D made use of MSI’s Afterburner to attempt to manually overclock the card. As it turns out, the card does not ship running close to it’s maximum frequencies as Bjorn3D, especially if you boost the power to 107% or roughly 370W of power consumption. This will get you an additional percent or three of performance, but overall it is indiscernible.
At an MSRP of $1499 and a roughly 10% increase in performance compared to the RTX 3080 it is a hard sell but you should not be too upset as you can’t have it anyways. Take a look at the review though, as this is one of the fastest GPUs on the planet and the benchmarks are impressive.
