A Very Different World With Souls-Like Gameplay
Perhaps you haven’t run into Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature but it is more than likely you are familiar with Dark Souls and the genre it has spawned. While Black Myth: Wukong most definitely has combat and gameplay inspired by Dark Souls, the world you are exploring couldn’t be more different.
Instead of a dying world with a grim colour palette and shadowy environments, Black Myth: Wukong is a gorgeous living world with the sun shining and foliage everywhere. The art style is very unique, enough so that the reviewer at Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN ended up searching out the artists Artstation profile, which is something to behold. The gameplay trailer shows a gorgeous game which may well want some serious horsepower to be able to play with all the effects enabled.
It is still in development, with no specific launch date but it looks like one to keep an eye on. Check out 13 minutes of gameplay in their preview and wonder how exactly the protagonist manages to turn into a cicada, or if they really do use their ear as a scabbard for their staff.
